Rather than copy what others are doing to help the local community, we have decided to partner with existing works through our community outreach team.

Over a Cuppa

Our most recent community outreach has been to offer a place of friendship and hospitality to retired folk in the area.

Our aim is to eradicate loneliness in the lives of the elderly. Every Tuesday, we open the church and host a wonderful group of seniors with tea, cake and conversation.

Bristol Street Pastors

Bristol Street Pastors is a local charity operating under the oversight of the Ascension Trust.

They have more than 25 trained Street Pastors, all of whom are volunteers from local churches who care about their community.

Teams of men and women patrol the streets of Bristol, usually from 10.00pm to 4.00am, listening to, caring for and helping the people they meet. River of Life has been involved with Bristol Street Pastors since 2015.

Christ Church Clifton Breakfast Run

The Breakfast Run provides breakfast sandwiches, hot drinks and friendship to people in some of the most desperate and vulnerable situations in Bristol. Many of those served are dependent upon drugs or alcohol. Whatever their reason for coming to meet the Breakfast Run teams, they are welcomed with compassion and love. We have been part of this outreach for many years now. Our community team cook and serve the homeless on a regular basis.

Bristol North West Food Bank

We have been working with Bristol North West Food bank since 2011. During this time, more than 18,900 people in a crisis have received help. We support in the most practical way, by donating food and participating in local supermarket collections.

Unseen

Unseen work directly with survivors of modern-day slavery and trafficking. Due to the sensitive nature of their work, our contact is directly with Unseen, not the people they help. We give financial and practical help to Unseen, enabling to help those who have escaped from slavery and trafficking integrate back into society as free men and women.

One 25

One25 is a Bristol-based charity, specialising in enabling women to break free from street sex work, addiction and other life-controlling issues and build new, independent lives. Their service users are women over 18 years who are trapped in, vulnerable to, or building new lives away from street sex work. River of Life offers these community outreaches financial support as well as trying to meet any practical needs.
